United States Thirteenth Amendment 1863-65

An amendment to the United States Constitution to abolish slavery introduced during the American Civil War.

(4 April, 1814 -- 5 January, 1872) Todd was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Lexington, Ky., Todd served in the army until 1856 when he settled in Dakota as an Indian trader. Todd studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1861. When the Territory of Dakota was formed he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-seventh Congress and successfully contested the election to the Thirty-eighth Congress.
