Uncertain Departure of Alexander Martin

Commentary

Alexander is recorded in Farrand's Appendix B as simply having departed 'in the latter part of August', which leaves uncertainty as to the date on which he actually left the Convention.

As all other departures have been recorded, it was felt this one could not be left out; consistency has been placed over certainty to ensure his departure is at least recorded. The Editors have therefore taken the decision to record his absence on August 31st, as this is the day we can be certain he had departed by.
