This document contains a note from the department of Foreign Affairs in response to some queries that were raised regarding an article by Maurice Hayes from an unknown date. The note encloses a briefing that covers three subjects - the controversy involving Richard Dallas, the boycott of Protestant-owned businesses in some parts of Northern Ireland, and the Hugh Lewsley case. Walter Kirwan, who is the author of the note, also provides additional information on all three subjects that he received from Mark Durkan on 28 August 1996. The cover page of the enclosed briefing is attached at the end of the document.
