Faxed transcript of Gerry Adams' speech to the Sinn Féin Women's Conference. Used as an occasion to make a speech about the peace process and distance Sinn Féin/PIRA from the efforts of the British/Irish governments. He claims in particular that his talks with Hume ought to be the basis of a peace process, since the British (and Irish, given the 'six points' of Dick Spring) seem committed to upholding a perceived 'unionist veto' (the consent principle in other words). Includes an appeal to the Irish government to build on the Hume/Adams talks, playing on their fear that this opportunity for peace will not last forever. Ends with an appeal to unionists to abandon a relationship with the British sustained by an 'undemocratic' veto.
