THE PRIME MINISTER
Dear Albert,
The Irish Institute of Directors have renewed their invitation to me to deliver the key-note speech to their proposed Ireland cross-border trade conference at a time of my choosing.
You mentioned this possibility to me. I am keen to make a speech in Dublin when the time is right. However, I understand that the Institute need a commitment by their main speaker which will give them about six months to organise their conference. I cannot give this at the present time and I have, with regret, declined the invitation.
I suggest that we might still consider the idea of a speech on another platform. Perhaps we can do so when we are next planning for me to visit Dublin.
Yours Ever,
John
Mr. Albert Reynolds, T.D.
