NOTE FOR THE RECORD
POLITICAL MOVEMENT AND THE PROVISIONALS
(i) agreed to provide, in 2-3 weeks, a report encompassing any information on future intentions re the ceasefire coming out of the Republican movement in the light of the mortar bombing;
(ii) Further thought should be given to developing points in which the Provisionals would have an interest were they to consider a ceasefire or related topics. In particular Mr Ledlie agreed to pursue the issue of Republicans still in prison in Great Britain;
(iii) the other area to which thought would be given by those present was the identification of specific types of language towards which we would like to entice the Provisionals. Allied to this, but less in terms of specific language was the identification of any concessions we would need to seek from the Provisionals to ease the position of a British Government in responding to a ceasefire.

This memo provides a list of action points agreed by the participants present at a meeting about political movement and PIRA on 14 February 1991 which was chaired by John Chilcot. The formatting of the text suggests some text (likely the name of an individual) is missing from point (i).
