In an letter dated 10 June 1996, David Trimble MP addresses Sir Patrick Mayhew, expressing dissatisfaction with the handling of the proposed agenda for the opening plenary session. Trimble refutes Mayhew's claims about attempts to arrange meetings, clarifying that during their last meeting in London, Mayhew did not provide any information about the agenda until directly questioned. Trimble criticizes the agenda as unacceptable and in conflict with the Intergovernmental Communique of February 28. He also points out that there was no consultation regarding the procedural material included in the statement of 6 June and he doubts that the proposals will be accepted without significant changes.
