The Progressive Unionist Party, in a document dated 27 November 1997 on the nature, form and extrent of new arrangements as part of Strand Two, acknowledges the Republic of Ireland as a neighboring country with shared interests. They emphasize the potential mutual benefits of North/South cooperation in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and energy. The party insists that any non-executive bodies formed from such cooperation must receive prior ratification from the parliaments in both Belfast and Dublin.
