McNeill called attention to the novel parts of the address such as the tone, the references to international events and a proposed peace agenda. McNeill also provided a list of points summarizing the main points of the speech, and noted that the speech gave the impression that Adams was trying to facilitate political movement within PIRA/Sinn Féin.
