A memo from John Holmes, Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, to John Major, British Prime Minister, dated 29 July 1996. Holmes asked if Major was willing to schedule a planned call with John Bruton, Taoiseach, for the evening of 30 July 1996. He briefed Major on the outcome of the multi-party negotiations, which adjourned on 29 July 1996 for the summer, including that the rules of procedure had been agreed. He informed Major of the death of the brother of George Mitchell, Chairman of Plenary.
