This document contains a memo written by Edward Oakden, British Prime Minister John Major's private secretary, to Dominick Chilcott, a civil servant in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, on 16 July 1996. Oakden enclosed the copy of a telegram that Major had received from a group of US Congressmen urging the Prime Minister to re-route the Orange Order's march away from lower Ormeau road, and requested a reply from the British Embassy on Major's behalf.
