This document contains a handwritten note addressed to British Prime Minister John Major, from MP and ex-leader of the UUP [Ulster Unionist Party] James Molyneaux, which was sent on 9 July 1996. Molyneaux wrote that David Trimble, leader of the UUP, wanted Major to know that he had plans to meet with the four church leaders in Northern Ireland soon, and that he would not mention this within earshot of Ian Paisley [leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP)] or Robert McCartney [leader of the United Kingdom Unionist Party (UKUP)]. This message was likely sent to Major in advance of his meeting with Trimble, Martin Smyth, Paisley and McCartney.
