This is the draft summary record of an opening plenary session on Wednesday 27 September 1997 at 12.13. The Chairman outlined the UUP submission on the expulsion of Sinn Féin to participants. Sinn Féin thought this should be discussed alongside the procedural motion rather than instead of it. The NIWC requested an adjournment. The attendance of the UUP at the proposed indictment plenary was discussed, as were potential time limits. Sinn Féin and the SDLP wanted a date for the tabling of the procedural motion, ideally prior to the indictment plenary. The NIWC adjournment was granted.
