This is the draft summary record of an opening plenary session on Wednesday 30 October 1996 at 14.00. The UUP continued its oral presentation and finished at 15.05. The SDLP and the DUP wished to comment on the presentation, in the former case to address criticisms of them. The Chairman reminded them that the schedule did not provide for debate on the presentations until next Monday. The British Government then gave its oral presentation. The SDLP commented in relation to UUP points on attendance that while its delegation varied it had always fielded an adequate team. Procedural aspects of written submissions were discussed.
