Note from George Mitchell regarding the DUP's request and the UUP's representation to exclude Sinn Féin from talks, 23 September 1997

This note, written by George Mitchell and likely circulated among all delegates, describes Ian Paisley's request for Sinn Féin to be excluded from the talks and provides a summary of the participants' views regarding whether DUP was eligible to make representations under Rule 29, considering it had withdrawn from the talks on 23 September 1997. Mitchell received a formal representation with the same request from David Trimble, who expressed concern that the DUP's request could be dismissed on a technicality.
