Writing Peace: David Trimble Collection

The document from the Office of the Independent Chairmen, authored by General John de Chastelain, Senator George Mitchell, and Prime Minister Harri Holkeri, announces a meeting of the Business Committee on 28 October 1996, to discuss a proposal to amend the Rules of Procedure to disband the Business Committee. The Business Committee's existence and responsibilities were initially approved by the Plenary Committee on 29 July 1996. Members are instructed to review specific paragraphs of the Rules of Procedure that outline the role and responsibilities of the Business Committee in preparation for the discussion. The meeting will take place at Castle Buildings, Stormont, and will precede the Plenary Committee's discussion on decommissioning scheduled for later that day.
