Similarly, the Food Safety (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 granted the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland (DANI) regulatory powers to implement various EC Meat Hygiene Directives, aligning Northern Ireland's legislation with Great Britain's Food Safety Act 1990. Both Orders ensured compliance with EC directives on a parity basis with Great Britain, without reflecting different local administrative structures or arrangements.
