Writing Peace: David Trimble Collection

David Trimble, Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), in a letter dated 11 July 1997, addressed to Rev. Ian R. K. Paisley of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), acknowledges receipt of Paisley's letter of the same date. Trimble expresses his intention to consult with the County Grand Lodge of Belfast to understand their position before engaging in further discussions on the matter. He indicates that another discussion between them would not be productive until he has had the opportunity to consult with the Belfast County.
